AUTISM/ADHD

ABOUT AUTISM & ADHD
Autism Spectrum Disorder (Autism) is a condition that affects how a person communicates, interacts with others, and experiences the world around them.
Children with autism may:
- Communicate differently (talk less, later, or in unique ways)
- Have difficulty with social interactions
- Show repeated behaviors or strong interests
- Be sensitive to sounds, lights, textures, or touch
Autism is called a “spectrum” because it looks different in every child. Some children may need a lot of support, while others need less. Autism is not caused by parenting; a child is born with it. With the
right support, children with autism can learn, grow, and thrive!
Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a condition that affects how a child focuses, controls their behavior, and manages their energy.
Children with ADHD may:
- Have trouble paying attention or staying focused
- Be very active or have difficulty sitting still
- Act quickly without thinking (impulsive behavior)
ADHD is something children are born with; it is not caused by parenting. It can look different in every child. Some may struggle with attention, while others may be more active or impulsive. With the right support, children with ADHD can do well in school, build strong relationships, and succeed in everyday life!
Trust your instincts. You are not alone. Many families go through this process. Support is available and early steps can make a meaningful difference!
